Music Instruments Repurposed Into Art: Silent Auction
Presented in part by Hallmark
Date and Time: TBD
About the Event
On Friday, June 8th, make plans to join SocialHeart at the fifth annual Art That Blows 2018 where we combine the art culture of the KC Crossroads with a high-energy party, all in support of Band of Angels. This year, we’re excited to have a brand-new venue, the Hilton Home2 Suites in the heart of the Crossroads Art District on the corner of 20th & Main. Local artists have re-purposed donated, nonfunctional musical instruments into pieces of art for this ticketed event. Guests may bid on the pieces during the silent auction. Following the silent auction, ticket holding guests may enjoy music while overlooking the breathtaking Kansas City skyline.
An event ticket gives guests access to bars featuring beers by Boulevard Brewery, a selection of wines and specialty drinks crafted with Bacardi rum. A selection of light appetizers and desserts will be served throughout the silent auction portion of the evening.
The Event’s Goals
The artists’ skills are the star of the show here, taking instruments that are beyond or too costly to repair and re-purposing them into works of art. The goal being to auction off these instruments, which would otherwise be worthless, as art with proceeds benefiting the students Band of Angels serves.
Over sixty artists lent their time and talent for the 2017 event, and thousands of dollars have been be raised for Band of Angels.
