Information for Artist Applicants

About the Event

This silent art auction event takes place in the Crossroads Art District on June 9th, 2017. All proceeds and donations will benefit the Band of Angels. Local artists have re-purposed donated nonfunctional musical instruments into pieces of art. Guests may bid on the pieces during the silent auction starting at 5pm. Following the silent auction, guests will enjoy refreshments and rooftop music while overlooking the breathtaking Kansas City skyline. Check out last year’s event.

For Artists

All types of physical media will be accepted for this charity auction.

Our Artist pick up days for selecting art materials:

Friday January 6th – 10am-6pm
Saturday January 7th -9am-5pm
Friday January 13th – 10am-6pm
Saturday January 14th – 9am-5pm

Location: Meyer Music Overland Park. (11890 West 135th St., Overland Park KS 66221)

There you may select from a variety of instrument and instrument parts for use in your artwork. The instruments provided are all deemed unusable, so with your help, we can give these instruments a new life in helping children in need pursue music through other programs Band of Angels supports.

The deadline to return the completed artwork to Meyer Music Overland Park is May 15th, 2017.

Participating artists will receive two tickets to this event. An event ticket gives guests access to bars featuring drinks and a variety of wines donated by Classic Cup, and specialty drinks crafted with Bacardi rum. A selection of light appetizers will be served throughout the silent auction portion of the evening. Additional tickets are $20 until June 1st and $25 the week of.

Bringing Artists Together for a Good Cause

The artists’ skills are the star of the show here, taking instruments that are beyond or too costly to repair and re-purposing them into works of art. The goal is to auction off these instruments, which would otherwise be unusable, as art with proceeds benefiting the students Band of Angels serves.

5:00pm – Doors and Auction Open
Guests are invited to view and bid on pieces of art crafted by the artists.

7:30pm – Rooftop Party kicks off

At 7:30pm, the party starts on the rooftop of InStore Design Display with a live music set to the backdrop of the downtown Kansas City skyline.

Stats

This is our fourth year of Art That Blows. Last year thirty artists lent their time and talent for the event, and raised thousands of dollars for Band of Angels, which helped us give music camp scholarships to over 50 students. After such an incredible response last year we are looking to include more artists this year.
